The NSW food waste mandate is now law. Since 1 July 2026, any NSW site generating 3,960 litres or more of general waste each week, roughly 6 x 660 litre or 16 x 240 litre bins, must separate food organics from general waste. That captures high-volume hospitality, supermarkets, hotels, schools, hospitals, aged care and food courts.
